Londoner left completely baffled after filming Prince Charles casually down South London high street

A TikTok user was left completely baffled after spotting Prince Charles strolling casually down Elephant and Castle’s high street. The Prince of Wales joined Rishi Sunak in South London on May 11, where he met young people who found work through his charity.

One resident of the city, who was apparently caught off guard after he spotted the royal heading towards him, took to Twitter to share his disbelief. He shared a clip to TikTok with the caption ‘Who’s this?’ with the video showing Prince Charles walking down a street with a large entourage.

The man behind the camera says “Morning Sir”, to which he responds: “How are you?” In the short clip, which has now been viewed 2.7 million times, the Prince was able to walk around more freely without too much of a crowd. In footage from later on in the day the Prince of Wales was mobbed by a crowd during a visit to a JD Sports store.

While walking down the street, a crowd surrounded the Prince and Rishi’s team and one woman seemed to ask the MP to take a picture of her and the Prince. The pair were in South London to speak to 16 to 24-year-olds who had been helped onto the Government’s Kickstart Scheme by The Prince’s Trust.

The scheme was set up in September 2020 to provide work for young people after youth unemployment peaked at around 15 per cent during the pandemic. The Prince of Wales was welcomed positively by the crowd, as one person shouted “God bless you” while another asked him how the monarch was doing.

The Prince met with members of the public

According to the Metro, Prince Charles spoke to 24-year-old Pav Soor, who said he’d been rejected from 460 jobs before joining Marks & Spencer as a Kickstarter.

Speaking of his discussion with the royal, Pav said: “He was interested in our journeys, in our personal journeys. He individually spoke to each of us and asked us how you got here.

“There’s a stigma behind a higher power not really being clued with what the younger generation are doing, but I was really glad to see that stigma just wiped away.”
