Canning Town crash live: Updates after car crashes with London bus – Toyota driver trapped inside

A crash between a car and bus in Canning Town is causing traffic chaos in East London. A black Toyota Prius collided with a number 5 bus just outside Bargain Food Centre on Barking Road around 2pm this afternoon (Friday, May 13), leaving shards of metal and glass all over the busy road. The impact of the crash set off the airbags in the car.

Police, firefighters, and paramedics rushed to the scene where they found the driver “trapped” in the Toyota. Firefighters released the man and he was then treated at the scene. He was taken to hospital in an ambulance where his condition is not thought to be life-threatening. Medics treated two more people at the scene but did not take them to hospital.

The Met confirmed they were called to reports of a road traffic collision at 2.10pm this afternoon, and rushed to the scene alongside paramedics from London Ambulance Service (LAS). The London Fire Brigade released a statement to say firefighters were also called to the scene, where they managed to released the man trapped in his car.
