South Bermondsey club celebrating medal haul – South London News

Larry Trumpauskas from Fusion Table Tennis Club in South Bermondsey has won the national junior boys’ singles.

He also won the Cadet (U15) title at the end of April.

Trumpauskas is ranked 18th in England and was not seeded for his latest tournament victory. He defeated England star Connor Green to lift the junior nationals title with a 3-0 win (11-8, 11-8 and 11-9).

He overwhelmed fifth seed Louis Price 3-2 in the semi-finals with his backhand topspins crucial to his victory.

Trumpauskas has been playing table tennis since the age of seven. He defeated Ralp Pattison 3-0 (12-10, 11-7 and 11-8) in the Cadet singles.

He also won the Cadet National Cup at St Neots earlier in the season.

Trumpauskas and Yiannis Kazantzidis picked up silver medals in the Cadet doubles.

They lost to defending champions and top seeds Jakub Piwowar and Maric-Murray.

Fuson’s Joshua Bruce reached his first ever national semi-finals – defeating England regular Felix Thomis – but lost 3-1 to Green.

The Lewisham youngster had recovered well from losing his first qualifying game 3-0, holding his nerve to win his next two matches and progress.

Saskia Key took bronze after a 3-1 reverse to Ella Pashley.

She paired up with Amy Marriott to take silver in the girls U17 doubles, losing 3-2 to Megan Jones and Anna Green.

Fusion Women created history as they won the first ever Region A Europe Trophy.

They defeated Joola Plymouth, Draycott & Long Eaton, St. Neots and Murrayfield TTC to finish top of the table.

Their team was Danielle Kelly, Elena Todirca, Sanna De Hoop and Tiana Dennison.
