The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee: A mile-long street party is coming to East London

17

As the days tick by Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee draws closer and closer, which means local communities will be gearing up for the celebrations. Walthamstow are also preparing themselves by looking for volunteers to help out at their major street party.

In fact, the whole shindig will be spread over a whole mile meaning they’re going to need some helping hands. Taking to the Twittersphere, organisers from Artillery Arts asked: “Can you help welcome residents to the ‘Mile Long’ Street Party on Sunday, 5 June?

“On the extended bank holiday weekend @artilleryarts will bring people to #Walthamstow High Street #E17 for music, dance, performance, workshops and games.”

Artillery Arts are the producers of the E17 Art Trail and High Street ADVENTures. The ‘Mile Long’ Street Party is a new event for 2022, as is a part of a borough-wide celebration for the Platinum Jubilee.

They hope to welcome residents from across Waltham Forest, as well as those living close to Walthamstow High Street to get people to “spend much needed time together”.
