Arsenal news: Tchouameni speaks out on transfer interest as Gunners ‘want’ to sign Man City ace

Here is your Arsenal morning digest for Sunday, May 8.

Tchouameni speaks out

Reported Arsenal transfer target Aurelien Tchouameni has spoken about his future with current club Monaco. “I have a contract with Monaco until 2024, with an option until 2025, we’ll see what the future holds,” said Tchouameni, via The Metro.

“In the transfer windows, many things can happen. There is my case and that of other players, some at the end of their contracts, others who have interest in other places. We are focused on Lille.

“We’re going on vacation, and we’ll see when we get back, who they’ll be when we get back. Why not stay and play the Champions League? The elimination in the previous round against Shakhtar got stuck in my throat.

Sterling interest

Italian outlet Calciomercato.it have claimed that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta ‘would like’ to bring Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling to the Emirates Stadium this summer. The England international, who is valued between €50million-70 Million (£43million-£60million) by CIES Football Observatory, is into the final 14 months of his deal with the Citizens and he has made it no secret of his admiration for the Spaniard in the past.

Speaking about the former City assistant coach to the Mirror back in October 2020, Sterling said: “(Arteta is) a person that had a lot of say here (at Man City). The manager trusted him here and he had a lot of influence on the players here and the team as well.

“So, I knew once he went into Arsenal that it would be a great opportunity for him but also he would definitely implement what he wanted to bring in. And he’s a person that will put his foot down and not let things slide as you can see with the boys at Arsenal.
