Man, 18, rushed to hospital in ‘serious condition’ after crash in south London

A man is fighting for his life following a crash in south London. Police were called to reports of a collision involving a car and a motorcycle in Court Road, Orpington on Saturday (April 30) just before 8pm.

The Met arrived at the scene with the London Ambulance Service and an air ambulance was also dispatched. They found an 18-year old biker with injuries and he was taken to a South London Hospital. A spokesman for the force confirmed he is in a “serious condition”.

At 11.54pm on Saturday, officers visited an address near to the scene of the crash. They arrested a 50-year-old woman on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of a collision and failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis.

The crash took place on Court Road

An investigation is being headed up by the Met’s Serious Collision Investigations Unit. They are appealing for witnesses to come forward, including those with dashcam footage.

A spokesperson for the force said: “At 7.58pm on Saturday, April 30 police were called to reports of a collision involving a car and a motorcycle in Court Road, Orpington. Officers attended with London Ambulance Service paramedics and the London Air Ambulance.

“The motorcyclist – an 18-year-old man – was taken to a south London hospital where he remains in a serious condition. At 11.54pm, officers attended a nearby address where they arrested a 50-year-old woman on suspicion of failing to stop at the scene of a collision and failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis.”

They are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident and who has not yet spoken to police, or anyone who has relevant dashcam footage, to call 0208 285 1574, providing the reference 6500/30APR.
