And so, the day is finally upon us. West Ham United welcome Eintracht Frankfurt to the London Stadium this evening for the first leg of their Europa League semi-final.
David Moyes ‘ side finished top of their group earlier in the competition before knocking out serial-winners Sevilla in the round-of-16 and Lyon in the last eight. They now face a two-legged tie against Frankfurt – who knocked out European heavyweights Barcelona in the last round – for a chance to contest the final on May 18.
Tonight’s game at the London Stadium is expected to be a sell out, with Moyes saying in his press conference on Wednesday that it’d be a special atmosphere if West Ham fans could replicate the same noise that saw them through their home tie against Sevilla last month.

Frankfurt – who have reportedly brought 10,000 fans over to London from Germany – will be hoping to spoil the party atmosphere though, with their route to the semis seeing them also top their group before overcoming Real Betis and Barca. Frankfurt are yet to lose a match in the Europa League this season, having successfully navigated all six group stage matches and four knockout games without yet tasting defeat.
