Fire brigade dispatch eight fire engines to Orpington to tackle blaze

London Fire Brigade have sent sixty firefighters to tackle a blaze at Cowden Road, Orpington this afternoon (26 April).

LFB Tweeted: “Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters have been called to reports of a fire in Cowden Road, #Orpington. More information to follow.”

The brigade reported that four terraced houses are affected by the fire.

After successfully tackling the blaze, London Fire Brigade posted via their website: “Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters tackled in a fire row of terraced houses in Cowden Road, Orpington.

“Two houses were badly affected by the blaze. A further two were partly damaged by fire.

“An older man was suffering from smoke inhalation and treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service crews.

“The Brigade was called at 1235 and the fire was under control by 1415. Fire crews from Orpington, Sidcup, Bromley and surrounding fire stations were at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.”
