Eight fire engines rush to Kingston Road after fire breaks out

Eight fire engines have rushed to Kingston Road after a fire broke out this morning.

London Fire Brigade tweeted: “Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters have been called to reports of a fire on Kingston Road in New Malden More info to follow”

Kingston Road is blocked in both directions at Archdale Place due to a house on fire. The The 131, K5 and N26 bus routes are all affected by the fire and there are major delays in and around the area.

Kingston Police tweeted: “Police, @Ldn_Ambulance & @LFBKingston are responding to a large house fire at 311 Kingston Road, New Malden this morning after a call was received at around 08:44. Several homes have been evacuated. Road closures are in place & traffic disruption in the area is likely.”

London Fire Brigade confirmed that they were called at 8:37am and crews from New Malden, Surbiton, Kingston, Wimbledon and surrounding fire stations are at the scene.

Posting via their website, London Fire Brigade said: “Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters have been called to a house fire on Kingston Road in New Malden.

“The ground floor, first floor and roof of a mid-terraced house are alight.

“The Brigade was called at 0837. Fire crews from New Malden, Surbiton, Kingston, Wimbledon and surrounding fire stations are at the scene.

“The cause of the fire is not known at this stage.”
