Travel chaos as temporary traffic lights stuck on red at major city cross roads

Temporary traffic lights at a major cross roads in Liverpool City Centre are stuck on red, causing delays.

Four sets of temporary traffic lights on Prescot Street at the junctions of Daulby Street, Moss Street and London Road were found to be stuck on red on Monday evening. The lights are close to Liverpool’s Royal Hospital.

A worker wearing high visibility clothing is at the centre of the crossroads to try and help traffic move through the junction while others attempt to fix the lights.

Merseytravel has told passengers to be aware services may be diverted or delayed due to the signalling fault. In a tweet they said: “Due to signal failure on Prescot St near Royal Hospital services may be diverted or delayed.”

Some traffic is building in the area, but vehicles are able to pass due to the time of day.
