Lewisham shooting live: Armed police rush to street in South London after teenage girl shot

Armed police rushed to a street in Lewisham after a teenage girl was shot in the early of the morning. Police were called to Lucas Street at 3.11am on Saturday (April 23) to reports of a shooting.

Specialist firearms officers were among those who attended and found a woman, in her late teens, with a gunshot injury to her arm on Lewisham Way. The young woman was rushed to hospital but fortunately her condition is not life-threatening or life-changing.

Police have closed a section of Lewisham Way in both directions after they established a crime scene. A number of bullet casings were recovered from the scene and have been sent for specialist analysis. The Metropolitan Police said enquiries are ongoing but at this early stage there have been no arrests.

Lewisham Way remains closed in both directions between Friendly Street and Tanners Hill while a crime scene is in place. Anyone with information should call 101 quoting reference CAD 942/23 Apr.
