Arsenal hero Paul Merson has delivered a fresh top-four prediction following last weekend’s set of Premier League fixtures.
Both the Gunners and Tottenham Hotspur lost 1-0, falling to Southampton and Brighton respectively, allowing Manchester United to gain some ground after the Red Devils secured a 3-2 victory against Norwich City thanks to a Cristiano Ronaldo hat-trick. Now, Spurs sit three points ahead of their two top-four rivals, with United above Arsenal due to a superior goal difference.
Still, Antonio Conte’s side are considered by many, including Merson, to be the favourites to secure UEFA Champions League football next term. Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “We sat here two or three weeks ago when Arsenal were (starting to struggle).

“Arsenal and Tottenham weren’t going to win their last eight games each. They weren’t and they aren’t good enough to win their last eight games each.
“Liverpool and Man City are. That’s why that Sunday (Premier League) game was big.
“Whoever won that Man City-Liverpool game, you could see them reeling off the next seven wins. You were never going to see that with Arsenal or Tottenham.
“They (Brighton) had a play. Sat back and counter-attacked – there is still a long way to go.
“I still think Tottenham are favourites to get into the top four.”
United travel to Anfield tonight to battle it out against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool whilst Arsenal travel to west London, taking on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening. The Gunners will be desperate to get back to winning ways following three consecutive league losses.
