London weather: May and June Bank Holiday forecasts after scorcher Easter

Most of the UK, including London, has been lucky enough to enjoy four glorious days of sunshine across this Easter Bank Holiday weekend. But as the beautiful long weekend draws to a close today (Monday, April 18), Londoners returning to work will need something else to look forward to.

Keen plan-ahead types will already know that the British Bank Holiday fun isn’t over yet, though. Brits have another two long Bank Holiday weekends to look forward to over the next six weeks; the three-day May bank holiday the weekend after next, and the highly anticipated four-day Bank Holiday weekend in celebration of the Queen’s Jubilee.

If you’re wondering whether the outlook for the upcoming Bank Holidays is as good as the Easter Bank Holiday has been, you could be in luck. Although the Early May Bank Holiday won’t be quite as scorching as Easter has been, the weather across the weekend (Saturday, April 20 – Monday, May 2) looks pretty good.

More sunshine could be on the way

After a run of four cloudy days in the lead-up to the weekend, BBC Weather expects the weather to become increasingly less dull and dreary throughout the three-day weekend, with sunny intervals and a gentle breeze by Sunday. Londoners can expect highs of 14C and lows of 6C, with a small chance of rain.

Fast-forward to the Platinum Jubilee Bank Holiday weekend in June and things are looking even more promising. Long-term weather forecaster Accuweather anticipates a warm and sunny four-day weekend from Thursday, June 2 to Sunday, June 5, with highs of 21C and lows of 10C on the Thursday and Friday.
