When planning for the momentous occasion that is bringing a baby into the world, it’s important to know you are in safe hands, where to go when labour starts and what to expect when you get there. For expectant parents, welcoming their child into their family is one of the most significant moments of their life.
The majority of mothers will give birth in hospital, often under the same service that does all their check-ups, scans and tests during their pregnancy. But how do you know which hospital to choose and where to go?
London’s maternity services are split into five areas: East, North Central, North West, South West and South East. Almost every health care setting, including all hospitals, are regularly inspected by the Care Quality Commission. The inspectors rate every hospital as well as every individual service as either inadequate, requires improvement, good or outstanding.
