London weather: 4cm of snow and 1C temperatures forecast for parts of UK – here’s what to expect in the capital

The UK has seen a mixed bag of weather so far this week, including some wintery winds and sudden rainstorms – but the fickle forecast shows no sign of settling down as we head into the weekend. Parts of the UK should even brace themselves for 70mph winds and up to 4cm of snow in the latter half of this week.

After temperatures dropped to below zero last weekend, the Met Office has issued a yellow warning for wind on Wednesday and Thursday across parts of the UK, warning of possible transport delays, power cuts and dangerously icy surfaces cross northern England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland over the next two days.

Luckily, London weather is forecast to be more settled than most of the UK. Although Londoners can expect more rain showers over the weekend, temperatures should be milder than they were at the beginning of the week, and we should even be lucky enough to see a few sunny spells. Here is the outlook for London, according to BBC Weather.

Thursday, April 7

Lingering cloud will clear away later this morning to leave a mostly “dry and bright” day. However, it will continue to be chilly and very breezy, with strong gusts throughout the day, and in all probability a few rain showers. Londoners can expect “strong winds” through until the evening, which will die down overnight. Temperatures of between 3C and 13C.

Friday, April 8

Another cloudy start to the day on Friday, but the weather will turn brighter as the day goes on and cloud clears gradually away. Forecaster say “sharp” afternoon showers “will bubble up” for many across the capital. A slight fall in temperature tomorrow, with lows of 3C and highs of just 11C.

Saturday, April 9

High pressure will apparently develop into the weekend, leading to fine weather throughout Saturday, with just a few isolated showers develop in the afternoon. It will remain quite chilly, however, with lows of around 3C and highs of 13C.

Sunday, April 10

Londoners should make the most of a dry and sunny Sunday morning, and warmer weather which will see temperatures hit lows of around 7C and highs of 15C. Cloud will begin to build as the afternoon progresses, but there will still be a few sunny spells.

Monday, April 11

Monday will be warmer, but there will be some outbreaks if rain later. Lows of 11C and highs of 17C.
