Trains between Reading and Paddington disrupted after person hit by train – recap

A person was hit by a train between Reading and London Paddington today (Wednesday, April 6). Railway lines were blocked between London Paddington and Reading Railway Station.

Passengers using Great Western Railway and Transport for London rail services between the two stations were earlier being advised disruption is set to continue throughout the day. The incident was first reported at around 3.55pm.

A National Rail spokesperson said: “A person has been hit by a train between London Paddington and Reading. As all lines are currently closed, trains may be cancelled or diverted until the end of day.”

The service was eventually reopened although residual delays were reported as the service looked to return to normality. Normal service resumed on the line some time around 7:45p.

Inrix, the traffic and travel website has now said: “Normal service resumed on Great Western Railway between London Paddington and Reading following earlier emergency services dealing with an incident.”
