Neighbours have described a ‘chaotic’ scene following the death of a man who was stabbed to death in Richmond. Police rushed to Maguire Drive at around 11.20pm last night (Thursday, March 17) where the stabbing was reported.
The victim was one of three men who managed to get themselves to hospital suffering from injuries. However one man, aged 31, later died at hospital. The other men’s injuries have been assessed as non-life-threatening and they have now been arrested on suspicion of affray and taken into custody after a murder investigation was launched.
Neighbours living in the area have described the incident in a “usually quiet area”, with “dozens of people” involved in the attack. One neighbour reported a woman was “screaming” for an ambulance.

The neighbour, who did not want to be identified, told the PA news agency of the chaotic scene that unfolded outside his home. He said: “I came out of the house because of the noise. There was a young woman screaming and yelling for an ambulance. I could see a body laid out on the pavement. It looked serious from where I was. Two fast, sporty cars with young men in were whizzing about in a hurry to get out.”
Gesturing to a white 4×4 parked in the road, he added: “A black car backed at high speed with no attention or care to other cars and slammed into that white Range Rover just down there.”
There are multiple scenes in place today (March 18). One is next to a nearby petrol station with another an alleyway around 100m away from Maguire Drive, Richmond. Uniformed officers have been standing guard at the edge of a large cordon on Maguire Drive since this morning.

The neighbour continued and said: “I didn’t see car numbers. I couldn’t see faces. I couldn’t see what was going on up there. All I could hear was the young girls were really panicking and calling for an ambulance. I don’t want to exaggerate, there may have been a dozen or more people.”
People living nearby have been escorted through the cordon at Maguire Drive. Residents speaking to MyLondon were “shocked” by a murderer in a “usually quiet place”. Police said the crime scene could be in place for two days, MyLondon understands. Police are also still appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Detectives are urging anyone with information or any witnesses to call 101, quoting the reference number 8004/17Mar, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
