The Glades: Bromley shopping centre evacuated after ‘bomb threat’ and shoppers told ‘this is not a drill’ – recap

The Glades shopping centre in Bromley was evacuated due to a ‘serious threat’ today, which was confirmed to MyLondon as a ‘bomb threat’. Staff in the shopping centre told customers it “isn’t a drill” with police shouting “move away”.

Shortly after 2pm this afternoon (Thursday, March 17) the fire alarm sounded in the shopping centre and customers were told to evacuate. Hundreds of people flooded out of the building and were asked to leave the area.

Shoppers were told this was a serious incident and that they should keep their distance.

A spokesperson for The Glades said: “We are investigating a serious threat and the building will reopen once we are 100% sure of everyone’s safety.”

The Glades car park has since reopened, allowing shoppers to collect their vehicles.

MyLondon has contacted the London Fire Brigade and the Metropolitan Police for more information on this breaking news incident.
