North Orbital closed near London Colney due to ‘police led incident’ – latest updates

A police incident has led to the closure of the A414 North Orbital Road in both directions close to London Colney.

Both carriageways are not open to traffic between the turn-off for Junction 3 of the A1(M) towards St Albans and South Hatfield and the turn-off for the A1081 Colney Heath Lane towards Colney Heath. Traffic is being diverted via local routes and motorists are being advised to either allow extra time, re-route or delay their drive if the closure impacts on their planned journey.

The Hertfordshire Police-led incident was reported on the National Highways: East Twitter account @HighwaysEAST in an 11.18pm post on Thursday night, which read: “The #A414 is closed in both directions between the #A1M J3 near #Hatfield and the #A1081 #LondonColney due to police led incident. @HertsPolice are in attendance. More information to follow shortly.”

An 11pm post by traffic data company Inrix, which was updated at 11.35pm, read: “A414 North Orbital Road in both directions closed due to police incident from Colney Heath Lane (Colney Heath) to A1(M) J3 St Albans / South Hatfield (Hatfield).”
