Four stabbed with one dead in shocking day of violence in London

Four people have been stabbed leaving one dead in shocking acts of violence across the capital all in the same day (March 24). The seperate incidents happened all on the same day, which also left a man in his 20s fighting for his life after a stabbing at a supermarket and a teenager in hospital with stab wounds.

As London warms up, violence is expected to be on the increase without the dampening effect of the poor weather. But that explanation won’t lessen the alarm felt by local residents who witness stabbings in their neighbourhood.

In South London, a man was arrested on suspicion of arson after a roof conversion burnt out in Croydon. A pedestrian in Brixton was hit by a bus and a motorcylist was left in critical condition after colliding with a lampost in Wandsworth.

Woman stabbed to death in Bethnal Green

Police arrived at the scene to find a woman dead at the home

A woman was found dead with stab wounds at a home on Globe Road, E2.

Police were called at around 4pm to concerns about the welfare of the 40-year-old woman. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 4.06pm on Thursday, March 24, to concerns for the welfare of a woman at a residential property in Globe Road, E2.

“Officers attended along with London Ambulance Service and found a 40-year-old woman with stab injuries.

“She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers.

“The death is being treated as suspicious and detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command have been informed. Enquiries are ongoing and a crime scene remains in place. At this early stage of the investigation, no arrests have been made.”

Man fighting for his life after stabbing at Wembley Asda

A cordon was established at the scene with many emergency vehicles in attendance

Police were called to the Asda Superstore on Forty Lane, Wembley, at around 5.30pm.

Officers attended and found a man in his 20s suffering from stab wounds. He was rushed to hospital and his injuries were assessed as life-threatening.

A cordon was established but so far no arrests have been made.

Police have asked: “Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting CAD 5453/24Mar or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

A video emerged on social media appearing to show a fight near Tooting Broadway Underground Station.

According to the police: “Police were called at 3.12pm on Thursday, March 24, to reports of people fighting outside Tooting Broadway Underground Station.

“Officers attended and carried out a thorough search of the area, however, no suspects or victims were identified.

“A man, aged his 30s, subsequently attended a South London hospital with a stab injury to his chest. His condition was assessed as not life-threatening. Enquiries suggest the injury was as a result of the incident outside Tooting Broadway Underground Station. “

Teenager rushed to hospital after Islington stabbing

A 17-year-old boy was rushed to hospital after suffering from a stab injury. Police were called to Northampton Park, Islington, at 5.33pm on March 24 due to reports of people fighting.

When officers attended the scene along with the London Ambulance Service, they found the teenager with stab wounds. He was taken to hospital where his condition was assessed as not life-threatening.

The boy was later arrested on suspicion of being in possession of an offensive weapon.

Man, 52, arrested for arson after Croydon fire

Firefighters were at the scene for hours

A man was arrested after a fire broke out at a house in South London today (March 24). The 52-year-old man was arrested at the scene in South Croydon on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.

Just after 12.05pm on Thursday (March 24) officers on duty noticed a blaze at a residential building in St Augustine’s Avenue. Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters from London Fire Brigade (LFB) arrived at the scene in Croydon to tackle the fire, along with the London Ambulance Service.

Firefighters used a turntable ladder to help bring the fire under control. After the fire was extinguished LFB confirmed that the second-floor roof conversion was completely destroyed by the fire and part of the first and ground floor of the property, which had been converted into flats.

Motorcyclist fighting for his life after Wandsworth crash

A motorcyclist is fighting for their life after crashing into a lamppost in South West London. Police set up a cordon following the collision on Armoury Way, Wandsworth, this morning (Thursday, March 24).

The London Ambulance Service was called to the scene, at the junction of Ram Street, at 7.20am, while the Met also attended. The force said a motorbike rider crashed into a street lamppost and suffered life-threatening injuries.

Pedestrian rushed to hospital after being hit by a bus in Brixton

A man was rushed to hospital this evening after being hit by a bus on the A23 Brixton Road. Police were called to the scene at 7.24pm on March 24 to reports of a collision involving a bus and a pedestrian.

Met Police officers attended the scene along with the London Ambulance Service, and the pedestrian was then taken to hospital where his injuries were assessed to be not life-threatening. The driver of the bus stopped at the scene.
