Wandsworth crash live: Updates as motorcyclist fighting for life after crashing into lamppost

A motorcyclist is fighting for their life after crashing in to a lamppost in South West London. Police have set up a cordon following the crash on Armoury Way, Wandsworth this morning (Thursday, March 24).

The Met reported the incident, at the junction of Ram Street, at 8.44am, while Inrix traffic management system reported that the crash happened at around 7.45am. The force said a motorbike rider crashed into a street lamppost and they have suffered life-threatening injuries.

As a result, the road has been reduced to one lane and drivers should expect severe delays as accident investigation work is ongoing. Police have advised drivers to “please avoid the area where possible” while their enquiries continue.

Three lanes have been closed with traffic queuing along the road. There is also congestion to Tibbets Corner northbound, with Putney Hill queueing northbound to Putney Bridge. There are further delays along Putney Bridge Road and Upper Richmond Road. Heading west, Battersea Rise is back to Clapham Common.
