Man rushed to hospital after stabbing outside Tooting London Underground station

A stabbing in South London has left a man in hospital with chest wounds. Police believe it is connected to a fight outside Tooting Broadway Underground Station.

Emergency services were first called to reports of a fight outside the Tube station at around 3.12pm on Thursday (March 24). But by the time police arrived there were no suspects or victims to be found.

A man in his 30s later showed up at a South London hospital with stab wounds to his chest. His injuries were assessed as non-life-threatening. According to a spokesperson for the Met Police : “Enquiries suggest the injury was as a result of the incident outside Tooting Broadway Underground Station.”

In a video shared widely online, reportedly of the incident in question, people were seen fighting on Ashvale Road, not far from the station. A person can be seen swinging at a man wearing a motorcycle helmet before running away.

Shortly afterwards a number of people on scooters can be seen leaving the area. The spokesperson for the police also called for anyone with information about the incident to come forward.

They said: “Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting CAD 4280/24Mar. To remain anonymous contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
