A young woman has been killed after being hit by a car in South London. The pedestrian, reportedly in her 20s, died at the scene on Wandsworth Bridge Road.
The tragic incident happened shortly after 10pm on Wednesday March 16.
A Met Police spokesman said: “Police were called at approximately 10.10pm on Wednesday, 16 March to reports of a collision involving a car and a female pedestrian on Wandsworth Bridge, SW18.
“Officers and London Ambulance Service attended but despite the best efforts of the emergency services, the woman, aged in her 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Her next of kin have been informed. The driver of the car stopped and is assisting police with their enquiries.”
The key arterial route was closed following the collision but has reopened at around 6.30am this morning (Thursday March 17).
