Essex crime: Teenage boy killed after stabbing on East London bus

In 2021 alone, Essex was at the epicentre of at least 18 murder investigations – many as a result of fatal stabbings.

Over the years, the county has been time and time again hit by the news of yet another death as a result of knife crime on our streets, always leaving a family and community grieving.

In the wake of these deaths, there is often a palpable sense of despair and helplessness that follows – but there is also an army of loved ones and volunteers who are dedicating their lives to putting an end to knife crime and trying to stop the countless, unnecessary deaths.

This week, EssexLive is sharing the stories of people at the heart of these tragedies – from the families that have lost children, the paramedics who see the devastation first-hand and even those who have made it out the other side of county lines, resolving themselves to make change.

It is also why we have also set up a fundraiser, to raise money for the charity Take A Knife to Save A Life, who are working tirelessly to get kids off the streets and create safe, healthy life choices.
