She says in the programme: ‘We want to make the garden into something more than just space to be. I really want to grow some plants that will actually improve our health and wellbeing.’

In the garden, Miss Garraway, 54, has created three different beds of plants – medicinal, tea and aromatherapy.

She added: ‘If you look past the initial beauty of the plants, it can give you so much more.

‘I haven’t quite proved you can grow yourself well but I think I’ve definitely learnt you can grow yourself happier.’

Mr Draper spent 374 days in hospital after contracting Covid in March 2020. The former political lobbyist was put into an induced coma for ten weeks, with the family repeatedly told that he may not survive.

His body had been completely ravaged by the disease and doctors who treated him said he was the most seriously ill patient to have survived the virus.

He returned to his family home in north London in April last year.

Love Your Garden: Grow Your Own Special airs on ITV1 tomorrow at 8pm.
