Hackney stabbing live: Updates as man, 23, attacked in broad daylight and rushed to hospital

A 23-year-old man has been rushed to hospital after being stabbed in broad daylight in Hackney today (Wednesday, March 9).

Police confirmed the stabbing happened just before 2pm this afternoon, on Pownall Road in Haggerston, just one street away from the popular Broadway Market.

The victim remains in hospital, and no arrests have been made so far, as police continue to investigate the circumstances. A crime scene remains in place.

Police have issued the following statement: “Police were called at 13:56hrs on Wednesday, 9 March to a report of a stabbing on Pownall Road, E8.

“Officers attended and found a man, aged 23, with a stab injury. He was taken to hospital where he remains.

“Enquiries are ongoing; no arrests have been made.”
