Everything you need to know about moving to Highgate, London | Bricks & Mortar

Where?
Home to the famous and resting place of the dead famous, hilly Highgate in north London offers gorgeous Georgian architecture, rich history and glorious green spaces.

Why now?
Why not? Highgate has been a celebrity magnet for centuries: the metaphysical poet Andrew Marvell had a cottage here, TS Eliot taught John Betjeman at Highgate School and Samuel Taylor Coleridge spent his final years at 3 The Grove. More recently Taylor Swift namechecked the neighbourhood in her 2019 song London Boy. The American superstar’s local haunts include The Flask, a cracking boozer that dates back to the 1660s and is said to have a couple of resident ghosts.

As Tay Tay might put it, “’gaters gonna gate”: residents are fiercely proud of Highgate Village
