Outrage as South London labelled ‘jungle’ and East London called ‘slums’ in viral TikTok

A TikTok user from London has been hit with backlash after he gave a summary of what he thinks each part of London is like. He gave his opinion on the North, South, East and West of the capital as well as Central London in his video.

Although most seemed to find the funny side, there were others who were taken aback by his claims and thought they were rude. The controversial video has already racked up 394,000 views on the site.

The TikToker, KobiCoker, who has 11,000 followers, spoke to them by first labelling Central London as “Cash Loss County ”. He explained the name was because it was full of tourist attractions and too expensive for anyone actually from London to afford to go out in.

But this review of Central London didn’t receive much notice and most people commenting on the video were more interested in his views of the other areas.

East London was labelled “the slums”. He said that although it has lots of fun things to do and areas of character, it is also “dirty” and “it smells”. Even though he faced backlash for the comment, it seemed to be in good humour, with one man saying: “I want this on record, East London doesn’t smell”, followed by multiple laughing faces.

“Ghetto” was how he described North London. He said: “It seems fun but you always have to think twice about where you’re going, otherwise that could be the end of your life.” He wasn’t shy of giving North London a bad review and suggested viewers should be scared of violent crime.

This was met with mixed reviews. Surprisingly, some tourists joined in the conversation and said that they had stayed in North London and it didn’t seem “anything like a ghetto”. A woman claiming to be from the area said: “I have been telling everyone North is the Ghetto for ages.”

West London probably came off the best in the man’s appreciation for different sides of the capital and was labelled “the mountains”. He gave the West a compliment and said it’s beautiful but also said that unless you have to go there no one can be bothered, “like climbing up a mountain”.

Finally was South London. “The jungle”. He gave South London the worst rating and said that the place is in constant “chaos” and that people are always “making noise as if they’re animals”.

Even though he gave scathing reviews of the South, most people seemed to agree with him. Some called the review “savage but true” whilst others said the “jungle” label was perfect.

What do you think about the rating your part of the city got? Is it fair? Let us know in the comments.
