Emiliano Martinez makes surprising Tottenham claim that will annoy Arsenal fans

Former Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has revealed his favourite stadium in the Premier League and it is one the Gunners won’t be happy with.

The Argentine international spent a decade in the red half of north London, delivering a number of top-class performances during their 2020 FA Cup run before lifting the trophy thanks to a famous 2-1 victory against Chelsea in the final.

However, Martinez decided to leave for Aston Villa just a few months later, opting to go for guaranteed game time at Villa Park instead of competing with Bernd Leno over a place in Mikel Arteta’s starting XI.

Now, the experienced shot-stopper has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium is his favourite away ground in the English top-flight.

When asked what his favourite ground to play at was, he told Ben Foster’s YouTube channel: “I have got to say Spurs away.

“More than a stadium. It looks like you are playing NFL.

“You go away there and it’s massive dressing rooms. It’s like you are playing in a final. It’s proper.”

Martinez enjoyed a successful debut campaign with Villa last season and was fully replaced last summer when the Gunners opted to bring Sheffield United ‘keeper Aaron Ramsdale to the club.

Ramsdale has since established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the division, conceding just 21 times in 22 league outings for the north Londoners, impressing Arsenal boss Arteta in the process.

When asked if the England international was the signing of the season, Arteta said: “I would say that any of my players can get that award but obviously there is no question about how Aaron is performing.

“What he has brought to the team and how quickly he’s adapted to what he’s transmitting every time he is on the field.

“Hopefully he can get a prize but there are still a lot of games to play.”
