Black Mountain to provide a challenging finish to Women’s Tour

The Black Mountain climb near Llangadog will be the backdrop for the Women’s Tour’s toughest stage finish to date when the UK’s most prestigious women’s cycle race returns to Carmarthenshire in June.

Organisers of the UCI Women’s WorldTour have revealed that stage five, on June 10, will take the peloton back to Wales with a route from Pembrey Country Park to the summit of Black Mountain near Llangadog.

It will be the second summit finish in the history of the Women’s Tour, but with an average gradient of 5.3 per cent over 7.2 kilometres, with spikes of up to 21 per cent, this will be much tougher than the one previously used at Burton Dassett Country Park.

The Black Mountain climb was also used in the 2019 Women’s Tour – when the stage finished at Pembrey Country Park.
