London weather forecast: Return of ‘spring-like’ conditions next week

L

ondon is set for the return of “spring-like” conditions next week, according to forecasters.

Meanwhile, bookies have increased their odds to March 2022 being the coldest on record for the UK.

But the capital will experience mild conditions and even temperatures in the mid-teens, weather experts predicted.

Tom Morgan, a meteorologist at the Met Office, told the Standard: “It’s going to be quite mild next week, it looks like high pressure will keep it mostly dry.

“There might well be the odd overnight frost but by daytime temperatures are going to be in the mid-teens.

“It will certainly feel quite spring-like at times, mostly dry most days and that continues right the way through next week. No signals for any snow at this stage.”

However, Ladbrookes has increased odds to the UK being the coldest March since records began.

Now the odds are at 10/11 for this month, having been 5/4 earlier this week.

But in London, the chances of March being the coldest on record in the capital sit at 4/1.

Alex Apati of Ladbrookes said: “Londoners look like they’ll dodge a bullet or two over the coming weeks, and while the rest of the UK is strapping in for freezing temperatures, the capital could play host to a winter heatwave.”

However, there is more chance of record-breaking rain over the next few weeks, with odds at 3/1, Ladbrookes said.

Mr Morgan also gave a UK-wide weather forecast for next week.

He continued: “Primarily the most unsettled weather will be across the northwestern parts of the UK. It’s likely to be a bit wetter and windier at times.

“Towards Scotland and Northern Ireland, there’ll experience the wettest conditions while more southern parts of England it will be generally mostly dry. There will be easterly winds and that will bringing some relatively mild conditions.

“Even across the northwest it’s quite mild as well. So it will be wet and windy in the northwest and generally drier and milder the further southeast you go in the UK.”
