Met Police in Newham are appealing for the public’s help in identifying a man in connection with the theft of a money box raising money for those in need in Ukraine. The box, containing around £100, was stolen from a café in Stratford earlier this week and now police are looking for a male suspect who allegedly fled the scene.
The fundraising box was dedicated to raising money for Ukraine amid the ongoing invasion of the country by Russia. Police said that just after midday on Thursday (March 3), a collection box was taken from Sawmill café on West Ham Lane.

The donations amounted to around £100 and were raised to help the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. A male suspect is said to have fled the scene, running from the location whilst being chased by a member of staff. Authorities claim he was then driven away in a car.
Police officers have now released an image of a man the are seeking in relation to the alleged incident. Police say the man was seen by witnesses to place an object in a car, and was photographed as he ran around to the other side of the car. question who was seen by witnesses placing an object in a car.

He was then photographed as he ran to the opposite side of the car.
Enquiries are ongoing and police are looking into the vehicle.
