Food writer and MasterChef UK 2019 Champion Irini Tzortzoglou will join Télémaque Argyriou for a short dinner only residency this month – 24th, 25th and 26th – at his restaurant Kalimera, in Crouch End, north London.

The five-course menu, with choices, will feature dishes inspired by Irini’s Greek heritage.

A selection of Greek wines from specialist producers will be available as an optional wine pairing, or individually from the restaurant’s wine list, in addition to Kalimera’s selection of cocktails, which use all Greek and Mediterranean spirits.

Born in Crete, Irini’s interest in cooking began at a very young age.  After moving to the UK, Irini had a 30-year banking career in the City of London, but always maintained an interest in cooking.

After winning Masterchef in 2019, Irini went on to publish Under the Olive Tree (Recipes from my Greek Kitchen) and train as an olive oil sommelier.  More recently, Irini recorded An Introduction to Greek Cuisine for e-learning platform Scoolinary, and is about to launch seven Greek menus with recipe box company The Cookaway. Irini is also an ambassador for Slow Food UK and Women in the Food Industry.

masterchef uk 2019 champion irini tzortzoglouSpeaking about the upcoming residency, Irini commented: “In this menu for Kalimera, I have selected some of my favourite Greek recipes, some of which I cooked in the Masterchef kitchen, and others from my first book.”   Télémaque, who opened Kalimera in June 2021, said: “I can’t wait to welcome Irini to the Kalimera kitchen!  We’ve had a great time putting this menu together.”

The five-course menu, priced at £65pp, includes dishes such as Double-cooked feta soufflé with green leaves, roasted pistachios and citrus – Lamb cutlets fricassée with sautéed greens, roast baby carrots and turnips with avgolemono sauce – Karidopita, a syruped walnut pie, with Greek yogurt parfait, clementines, Metaxa gel and olive oil espuma. The menu also includes vegan options.
