EastEnders star Zack Morris has played an integral role in the BBC soap for five years, starring as Keegan Butcher-Baker. Having first appeared in the soap in 2017, Zack announced on Wednesday that he will be leaving Albert Square this spring after over 400 appearances on the show.
On the official EastEnders account on Instagram, Zack wrote: “After five beautiful years on this incredible show, I have made the tough decision to leave Walford and give Keegan Butcher-Baker some well-earned rest. This show has quite frankly changed my life for the better. It will always hold a real loving place in my heart.”
He added: “The cast and crew of this show deserve every accolade that comes their way. The hard work, love and dedication that goes into making four episodes a week is immense and it’s not to be taken lightly.

“This show has given me so much, not just as an actor but as a man. These invaluable lessons I have learned at EastEnders will stay with me for the rest of my life. I will forever see this whole experience as the biggest blessing I could have ever asked for. I loved every second.”
The announcement came after many fans voiced their concerns that Zack’s character Keegan had run his course. After Keegan’s wife Tiffany left the show with her brother Liam after the latter tricked her into thinking Keegan no longer loved her, Keegan was left looking dejected about Walford, pining for his lost love.

In recent episodes, Keegan has been spending much of his time drinking alone in the Vic and feeling sorry for himself. But the end of Keegan’s stint doesn’t necessarily mean the end for Zack, who no doubt has a promising career ahead of him.
The 23-year-old actor came into EastEnders with a decent looking portfolio, having acted in the annual BBC telethon Children in Need and TV series’ One Night and The Fades. In 2019, he was shortlisted as Best Actor at the British Soap Awards.
Zack, having now had his taste of celebrity status, seems to have wasted no time in getting himself settled into life in the spotlight. He was rumoured to have been romantically involved with Tiffany actress Maisie Smith, but in a chat with The Sun, Maisie told that, while they were close, they were mates and not dating.
