Man in 20s rushed to hospital with head injury after fight breaks out in North London

A man in his 20s has been rushed to hospital after a fight broke out in North London this morning (Sunday, February 27). The young man was taken to hospital with a head injury after reports of a group of people fighting on Philip Lane, South Tottenham, at 7.36am this morning.

Police confirmed the man was rushed to hospital, where his condition has been assessed as “not life-threatening.” Two people were arrested at the scene of the fight, and they remain in custody as police make enquiries into the fight. Parts of Philip Lane remained cordoned off by police this afternoon.

A photo shared by a local resident on Facebook showed police tape spanning multiple buildings along Philip Lane, at the junction where it meets Clonmell Road. The resident said Philip Lane was closed from Clonmell Road. Other South Tottenham residents commented to say they were aware of fighting in the area this morning.

The police statement in full reads: “Police were called at 07:36hrs on Sunday, 27 February to reports of a group of people fighting in Philip Lane, N15.

“Officers attended along with London Ambulance Service. A man, aged in his 20s, was found with a head injury and taken to hospital where his condition was assessed as not life-threatening.

“Two people [no further details] were arrested at the scene in connection with the incident and they remain in custody. Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.”
