Londoners in shock after student reveals she spent £450 in a single day while living in the capital

Londoners were shocked after one student revealed her spending habits over the course of 24 hours in the capital. Gabriella Alexandru enjoyed a flashy night out in Shoreditch, as well as a fancy dinner in the West End, all on the same day as an expensive grocery shop in Kensington.

Many of her followers were in awe of how much money she spent, while some hilariously compared their own ideas of pricey with Gabriella’s. She even bought a bouquet of flowers in between studying at university and going out for food.

Posting to her 42,000 TikTok followers, she said: “Here’s what I spent as a student living in London on a more pricey day,” as she took her fans on a journey across the capital. After spending £17.90 on a fancy breakfast, Gabriella headed off to Kensington to do her weekly food shop at Wholesale Foods, which cost £53.45.

While there, she also spent £10.50 on lunch. She then went to her university to study and bought two takeaways coffees while she was in the library – as well as a bouquet of flowers on the way out, which she could not resist buying after she spotted them.

She then went to Japanese restaurant ROKA Aldwych with her friend, where they could be seen eating sushi – which set her back a whopping £95. She added: “It was also my friend’s birthday, so we hired out two tables at Cirque” on Old Street, Shoreditch – where Gabriella and her friends spent £250 each. After taking a £10.50 Uber ride home, this tallied up to £445.30 – not including her train fare to uni from Kensington.

Gabriella spent £53 on groceries and a further £10 on lunch

The post has racked up more than 18,000 likes, with many of them in disbelief about how much Gabriella spent on just one day living in the capital. One joked: “A more pricey day for me is treating myself to a Tesco meal deal for lunch.”

A second added: “I wouldn’t even spend £445 in a month”, while a third chimed in: “I see things like this, and then that makes me feel less bad about my own spending habits”. A fourth wrote: “No one spends this much in a normal day.”

In the comments section, Gabriella clarified to her followers: “I don’t spend this much daily. It varies a lot, sometimes it’s £10, sometimes it’s way more. I’m insanely grateful and very aware of how lucky I am.” She also hit out at people calling her a “trust fund baby”, replying to one: “Why are you mad my parents are providing for me? I’m proud of them, they worked for what they have and can honestly use their money however they want.”
