Harry Kane’s 17-word Son Heung-min verdict after breaking record in Tottenham win vs Leeds

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has said he loves his partnership with Son Heung-min after the pair broke a long-standing Premier League record in Saturday’s victory over Leeds United.

The duo were pivotal to Spurs’ 4-0 victory at Elland Road as they both got on the scoresheet – Kane scoring before half-time, whilst Son managed to get in on the act late on.

The provider for the South Korean’s effort was unsurprisingly the England captain and it was a goal that saw the pair claim a Premier League record.

It was the 37th goal that they have combined for since becoming teammates back in 2015 – a count that has taken them above the long-standing record previously held by ex- Chelsea duo Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba.

Following the final whistle in Yorkshire, Kane took to Instagram to hail his strike partner, whilst he also revelled in what could potentially be a vital victory for Spurs in the race for Champions League football.

Alongside a picture of the pair in the dressing rooms after the game, he wrote: “Love the link up with this guy. Brilliant performance all over the pitch. Perfect response to Wednesday.”

Whilst Kane was also thrilled with claiming the record, Son also expressed his delight too in a post-match interview but also praised his side’s ability to claim victory.

He said: “It’s a big honour.

“It’s fantastic. The record is also important but the three points as well because in mid-week [against Burnley], not the best or what we wanted.

“We take the record but most important thing is that we take the three points.”

With Kane and Son both having found the net against Leeds, that takes them to 18 and 11 goals respectively in all competitions, whilst they have managed to accumulate four and seven assists too.
