Tottenham Hotspur given two fixture rearrangements amid latest round of TV selections

Tottenham Hotspur have seen their Premier League matches with Newcastle United and Aston Villa in April rearranged after the latest round of TV selections was confirmed on Wednesday.

Spurs were originally set to host Eddie Howe’s resurgent Magpies in north London on Saturday, April 2 but that game has now been pushed back a day, with kick-off scheduled for 4:30pm.

The game is set to be shown on Sky Sports.

Elsewhere, Antonio Conte was set to take his side to Villa Park just a week later and whilst the game with Aston Villa remains on the same day of Saturday, April 9, the game will now kick-off at the later time of 5:30pm and will also be broadcast live on Sky Sports.

Despite the confirmation of that rearrangement, the clash with Villa could be subject to yet more alteration.

Should either Manchester City or Liverpool be in Champions League action on Tuesday 12 April, then the game will be moved to the Sunday and will be set to get underway at 4:30pm.

As it stands, the pair look well on their way to progressing deeper into the competition, having racked up comprehensive victories over Sporting Lisbon and Inter Milan in the first-leg of their round of 16 ties.

By the time that Spurs’ games with Newcastle and Aston Villa eventually roll around, the north Londoners will certainly hope to have taken a significant step towards securing themselves a European place next term.

Ahead of this evening’s clash with Burnley, Spurs sit eighth in the current Premier League table and seven points behind fourth-placed Manchester United.

However, they can cut the gap between themselves and the Red Devils by winning their three games in hand – the first taking place at Turf Moor on Wednesday evening.
