The trial into the shooting of Black Lives Matter activist Sasha Johnson has collapsed.
The mum-of-two was shot in the head at around 3am on May 23, 2021, at a house party in Consort Road in Peckham.
Prince Dixon, 25, of Gravesend, Kent, Troy Reid, 20 of Southwark, Cameron Deriggs, 19, of Lewisham, and Devonte Brown, 19, of Southwark were due to stand trial at the Old Bailey on March 7.
All four denied conspiracy to murder and possession of a firearm and ammunition with intent to endanger life.
But today the prosecution announced they would not be pursuing the case.
Ms Johnson is still receiving treatment in hospital and her condition is described as serious. It was initially described as critical.
The 28-year-old worked in activism and community support and had received a first in social care from Ruskin College in Oxford.
She had been a leading figure in the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement in the UK and was a member of the Taking the Initiative Party’s leadership committee.
Police said previously that they did not believe she was the intended victim.
The hearing was overseen by Mr Justice Hilliard QC, with the defendants appearing by video link from HMP Belmarsh.
Prosecutor Mark Heywood QC announced that following a review, the case was being dropped.
