London crime: Man, 18, rushed to hospital following stabbing in Catford

A man has been rushed to hospital with stab injuries after a fight in South London. Police were called to Stanstead Road, Forest Hill, at around 3.15pm on Monday (February 21) where they found a man believed to be 18 suffering from knife wounds.

The victim was taken to hospital, where his condition is not yet known. Police have arrested one man on suspicion of affray, possession of an offensive weapon, and possession with the intent to supply class B drugs.

The arrested man remains in custody – and a section 60 order is in place in the areas of Forest Hill and Catford until 8am on Tuesday (February 22). The section 60 order will give Met Police officers increased stop-and-search powers throughout the area surrounding the fight.

A Met spokesperson said: “Police were called at approximately 3.15pm on Monday, February 21 to reports of a fight in Stansted Road, Forest Hill, SE23. Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found a man, believed aged 18, suffering stab injuries.

“He has been taken to hospital for treatment – condition awaits. A male – no further details – was arrested near to the scene on suspicion of affray, possession of an offensive weapon and possession with intent to supply class B drugs. He remains in custody.”
