Antonio Conte is facing a Tottenham Hotspur crisis amid criticism the Italian is a ‘chequebook manager’.

Conte took charge of Spurs in November following Nuno Espirito Santo’s short-lived time at the helm in north London, but has already reverted to a familiar criticism of his bosses.

In a controversial interview in the Italian media last week, Conte said his side had been ‘weakened’ in the January transfer window as he appeared to hit out at Tottenham’s business.

It comes after Harry Kane fired Conte’s side to a 3-2 win over Manchester CIty, with the Spurs skipper also facing a crossroads in his career.

Here are Mirror Football’s latest Tottenham Hotspur headlines.

City talking points

Harry Kane was in sensational form as he helped Spurs end Premier League leaders Manchester CIty’s 15-game unbeaten run.

The Spurs skipper put Son Heung-min in behind the City defence with a delightful pass before the Korean unselfishly played in Kulusevski who converted into an empty net.

Kane then took things up a gear as he put his side back in the lead following Ilkay Gundogan’s equaliser.

Son this time picked out Kane as he arrived late in the box to produce a sublime finish into the top corner, before sealing the win with a powerful header from a Kulusevski cross.

But the game had plenty of other key moments, and Mirror Football has covered them all.

Conte’s crisis

Spurs manager is once again facing a familiar criticism as he handles his first real crisis as Tottenham boss.

Conte has been labelled a ‘chequebook manager’ before during his illustrious career, and it is something that is once again rearing its head following his latest rant about the club’s January transfer window business.

Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski arrived, both from Juventus, on transfer deadline day but Conte said last week his squad became ‘weaker’ during the course of the month.

But it is the Italian’s interview which has really sparked the crisis he now faces, as he tries to shake off his reputation for needing to spend money to make his sides successful.

Kane’s crossroads

Harry Kane reminded Manchester City just what they missed out on as he scored two goals to earn Tottenham a dramatic 3-2 win at the Etihad Stadium.

City boss Pep Guardiola was desperate to sign the Spurs skipper last summer but Daniel Levy decided his star man was ‘untouchable’.

The striker is said to have struck up a good relationship with new manager Antonio Conte, but with reports this week linking him once again with the Spurs exit door, Kane is facing yet another crossroads in his career.
