Thomas Tuchel must copy £27m Real Madrid transfer plan to land Declan Rice major Chelsea role – Jake Stokes

Chelsea must take inspiration from Real Madrid’s transfer contingency plan as Thomas Tuchel looks to preserve the futures of N’Golo Kante and Jorginho at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues duo sees each of their current deals in west London expire at the end of next season, and while for some a pair of extensions would be a no brainer, their age is becoming a growing concern among the fanbase.

For all the good that technology has done to develop football as a sport, digital evolution continues to brainwash generations of fans that once a professional, like Kante and Jorginho, turn 30-years-old then they’re past their best – and it’s often quite the opposite.

With many fans questioning the two Chelsea midfielders’ futures, Tuchel must look at how Real Madrid managed the integration of younger players around their ageing side.

The Santiago Bernabeu is home to one of football’s greatest ever midfield trios who continue to lock horns with Europe’s elite, yet they have a combined age of 97 years and Madrid haven’t dismissed their services.

Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Casemiro have 12 Champions League winner’s medals, 12 Club World Cups and 312 international appearances, building a solid foundation for Real Madrid’s next generation to integrate themselves seamlessly.

Los Blancos beat a host of Champions League sides to the £27m signing of 18-year-old midfielder Eduardo Camavinga from Rennes in the summer, yet Madrid wasn’t inclined to offload their holy trinity.

“Those three make up the best midfield in the world right now,” Ancelotti told Diario AS.

“Maybe the box-to-box midfielders are more what you think of, but Modric, Kroos and Casemiro have so much experience and are so good at the game that they are simply extraordinary. What’s more, it turns out they play so well together.

“When the three of them are together, there’s nobody who can compare to them.”

The same principle must be applied in west London; Chelsea must overlook their reluctance to contract players aged over-30 to long-term deals and follow Madrid’s lead.

Kante and Jorginho deserve a future at Stamford Bridge and, much like how Modric, Kroos and Casemiro have done in La Liga, they could continue to perform at the highest level while also mentoring the next generation as Thiago Silva has been doing.

According to the Evening Standard, Declan Rice’s potential switch to Chelsea is now in jeopardy due to the Blues duo, but this shouldn’t be the case as Kante and Jorginho could nurture the West Ham vice-captain into Tuchel’s perfect midfield anchor.
