Man headbutted and punched 2 workers at Camden bar after staff said it was table-service only

Police are appealing for information after a bartender was racially assaulted in a Camden bar. At around 8pm on January 16, two members of staff at a bar on Hampstead Road were attacked after a customer had declined table service as he wished to be served at the bar.

When the man asked, staff members explained they couldn’t serve him at the bar as it was against company policy. The suspect then became aggressive towards a waitress and headbutted a 34-year-old member of staff before punching the 32-year-old manager.

Neither of the victims required hospital treatment and the Met confirmed the incident is being treated as a hate crime due to the language used.

Officers have now released CCTV of a man they wish to identify and speak with.

A Met spokesperson said: “Anyone who recognises the man is asked to contact police via 101 quoting reference CAD 5949/16Jan. To remain anonymous, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.”
