Storm Eunice latest: Extreme weather overturns lorry on motorway – record-breaking winds | Weather | News

This is the dramatic moment a lorry buckled under the extreme winds of Storm Eunice and toppled over on a motorway. The video, captured on the M4 motorway between Pyle and Margam in Wales, shows a lorry flip onto its side while travelling westbound. The lorry then slides on its side for a few seconds before coming to a stop.

The toppled-over lorry appears to block the entire motorway with three lanes of traffic coming to a halt.

Emergency services rushed to deal with the overturned lorry, as gusts on the motorway reached at least 90mph.

The footage is the latest dramatic video revealing the devastating impact of Storm Eunice.

Other footage uploaded on social media shows torn-off roofs and fallen trees, as Eunice wreaks havoc across the country.

Transport for London has urged people to avoid non-essential travel today while the red weather warning has prompted Transport for Wales to cancel all trains across the country for the first time ever.

Roads are proving treacherous for many drivers, with several bridges closed, including the M48 Severn Bridge which links southern England and Wales.

The Met Office took the rare step earlier of issuing a severe weather alert with National Highways for strong winds covering the whole of the country’s road network until 6pm today.

Eunice has also left more than 50,000 properties in southwest England and south Wales without power.

Elsewhere in the country, rain and significant snow is falling across parts of north England and Scotland.
