London’s best Holiday Inn, Best Western, Premier Inn and Travelodge according to TripAdvisor

Whether you’re a Londoner, a seasoned traveller or a first-time visitor to our beautiful city, it’s essential that you know the best places to stay on a budget – whether for yourself, or to recommend to others. After a day exploring Buckingham Palace and Camden Market, or a night out in Shoreditch or Soho, it’s vital that you find somewhere decent to rest your eyes and awak fresh for the next day.

Chain hotels are often your best bet if you’re looking to stay in London and can’t afford to completely destroy your bank balance. One thing to keep in mind, though, is that whether it be a hotel, restaurant or airline, chains can still differ depending on their location and staff. To save you scrolling through TripAdvisor for hours, MyLondon has compiled a list of the best rated Best Western, Premier Inn, Travelodge and Holiday Inn in the city – so you can try them out, or tell your friends and family all about them.

As it does with pubs, restaurants, and even local attractions, TripAdvisor ranks every hotel in London based on its reviewers’ ratings. For the purpose of this list, we have searched for the hotel in each chain with the lowest ranking compared to the others – with some potentially surprising results. We have only included hotels with more than 100 reviews. The city’s best chain hotels can be found below:

Holiday Inn – London West

Company bosses say that “you’ll be guaranteed a memorable stay” if you book at the Holiday Inn branch in West London, just a short walk from North Acton’ London Underground Station. Visitors will experience the beautifully designed lobby and stunning brand new executive rooms – some of which have views of the city’s glorious skyline.

The hotel on Portal Way Gypsy Corner (W3) is conveniently located between Heathrow Airport and the centre of London, with Park Royal, the largest business park in London, and Wembley Stadium just a few minutes’ drive away.

One recent review, from a customer who stayed on New Years Eve, reads: “Stayed here on NYE. Turned up early at around midday and was able to check in. Clean and tidy bedroom. Bathroom could do with a bit of updating but everything was clean.

“Nice view of London, and not far too travel into the city. Breakfast was amazing quality, and all piping hot. The reception staff were friendly and efficient, and so was every member of staff we came across. Would definitely return!”

Close to the DLR, and only 10 minutes from London Bridge by train, this hotel is convenient for business travellers heading to Canary Wharf and anyone wanting to spend time in Greenwich Park, the Royal Museums and Blackheath.

The website describes the luxurious room, saying: “At the end of a long day, you can relax in style in one of the modern bedrooms, each featuring an impressive 40″ flat screen TV, bright, modern bathroom with a large shower head, and brand new, slumber-inducing, king-size Hypnos bed.”

A recent review on this hotel, which is ranked 170 out of the 1,202 hotels in London, reads: “I really enjoyed our stay at this Premier Inn. Clean rooms, staff friendly, always on hand to help out, and a lovely little Xmas selection box left by the staff, my son loved this! And perfect location, look forward to staying again.”

Travelodge – London City

The London City Travelodge on Middlesex Street (E1) is the most ideal location to explore Central London. The Tower of London and the Sky Garden are both a 10-minute walk away, while it is also less than a mile from The Shard. It’s also only around two miles from Covent Garden and the London Eye – but if you don’t fancy walking, that’s what the London Underground is for.

A recent 5 out of 5 review reads: “I came for a weekend stay with my partner and it was honestly amazing, the staff were so helpful and welcoming especially Darren at the bar! Made amazing cocktails and was extremely helpful throughout our stay! Look forward to coming back.” The hotel ranks 133 out of 1,202 hotels in London.
