Dramatic photos show lorry flipped on its side after crashing into South London bridge

Dramatic photos have shown the aftermath of a lorry’s collision with a bridge in South London, as the vehicle was overturned on its side in the crash. A major road was shut down earlier today (7 February) after the incident on Crofton Road outside Orpington Station at around 10.30am today (February 7).

A spokesperson from the London Ambulance Service confirmed that no one was seriously injured in the collision. Photos from the scene show an overturned lorry on its side on Crofton Road after hitting Orpington Bridge, as well as a police car and ambulance at the scene.

The lorry collided with Orpington Bridge earlier today

A witness said that a police cordon is in place and approaching cars have been ordered to turn around by police. A photographer who witnessed the scene tweeted: “I Just came back home from plough Lane stadium photography job and this happened at Orpington station.

“Thankfully nobody got hurt.”

Emergency services attended but thankfully no one was seriously injured

A spokesperson from the London Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 10.43am today (7 February) to reports of a road traffic collision on Crofton Road, Orpington.

“We sent an incident response officer and an ambulance crew to the scene. The first medic arrived in under six minutes.

“A man was accessed at the scene, but not taken to hospital.”
