Machete-wielding youth and another brandishing metal bar take swipes at each other on London bus in front of shocked passengers | UK News

A knife fight between two youths on the top deck of a bus in front of shocked passengers is being investigated by police.

Video has emerged of the altercation involving one who brandished a machete with an eight-inch long blade, and another who held a long, thin metal bar.

The pair, who both wore black coats and covered their faces, were filmed using the weapons to take swipes at each other as the bus travelled through Streatham in south London.

In the stairwell, a third person was slapping what appeared to be a long sword against the handrail.

Passengers watched on as the fight lasted “for about five minutes” before the youths left the vehicle.

Police officers arrived, but all those allegedly involved had already fled.

A person who filmed yesterday afternoon’s incident, but did not want to be named, said: “The kids with the knives came on the bus in Streatham.

“I couldn’t believe it was happening. They left after about five minutes of back-and-forth.”

Writing online, another passenger said they were sitting downstairs but could hear the fight going on.

They added: “I was just sitting still and hoping that it didn’t become deadly. The driver stopped the bus while it was happening and called the police.”
