A person has died after they were hit by a train on the London Underground’s Northern line.
Emergency services were called to Tooting Broadway Underground station just after 4.30pm on Wednesday (February 2) after reports of an injured person.
London Ambulance Service attended with a number of crews but despite efforts, the person died at the scene.
The Northern Line was subsequently closed between Stockwell and Morden while emergency services dealt with the incident.
Transport for London (TfL) confirmed details on its website and advised people of severe delays to their journey.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 4:33pm today (February 2) to reports of a person injured by a train at Tooting Broadway Station, Tooting.
“We sent an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a car, members of our hazardous area response team and an incident response officer. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.
“Sadly, a person died at the scene.”
Tooting MP Dr Rosena Allin-Khan also tweeted: “Tragic news coming from Tooting Broadway station this evening. My thoughts are with the person involved and their loved ones.”
