A livid Londoner has taken to the world of Reddit to rant about an extortionately priced sweet treat they saw. London is known for its high prices, but when one person saw a £6 slab of banana bread, they decided a line had been crossed.
The picture began doing the rounds yesterday morning (February 3) and has amassed 176 comments since. The photo didn’t detail where the café is, but it’s no secret that prices like these are on the rise in the capital.
Technically it wasn’t a slice of actual bread, it was a slab of banana bread. But still, six quid?! It better have been blessed by the Lord himself!

As you can imagine, Redditors weren’t too pleased either with the rather pricey confectionary.
One said: “We need to go back to running businesses and making a living by charging sensible prices and stop being so f****** greedy and stop being so comfortable ripping everyone off.”
While a second replied: “Agreed. We need to go back to being ashamed of charging rip off prices.”
And a third Redditor joked: “£6 for a slice of bread? Where are we, Paris in 1789? Most of London isn’t like this.”

Then there was someone who sat on the fence, but made a very good point which most people won’t have thought of.
They said: “There are many people in London who spend as much or more than this on a single pint, which is worth keeping in mind. This cake is easily better value than a pint for the same price, so if I had the choice between the two, I’d buy the cake.”
