Picture and video footage shared on social media this evening, on Tuesday, shows thick black smoke rising from flames on a building next to Acton Town station in West London. The station has been cordoned off by police and firemen can be seen dealing with the fire at the scene.
The building on fire could be the Auto Car Centre on Bollo Lane next to the station, according to the Mirror.
London Fire Brigade (LFB) said it was alerted to the first just after 5pm.
In a post on Twitter, it revealed 70 firefighters had been sent to the scene to deal with the fire.
It said: “10 fire engines and 70 firefighters are at the scene of a fire at a car garage on Bollo Lane in Acton.”
An alert on Transport for London’s (TfL) journey planner told travellers their journeys could be disrupted due to an “incident next to Acton Town station”.
It said: “No service between Turnham Green and Ealing Broadway due to an incident next to Acton Town station.”
Services were also halted between Hammersmith, Northfields and Uxbridge because of the fire.
TfL added: “Good service on rest of the [District and Piccadilly] lines.”

Drivers were told to find other routes.
LFB said its control office had taken 15 calls about the fire as of 6.20pm.
It also said gas cylinders inside the garage were being called to an ambient temperature by firefighters, according to PA.
The cause of the fire remains unknown.
In a statement, posted on MyLondon, LFB said: “Firefighters are tackling a fire at a single-storey car garage…
“The Brigade was called at 5.10pm.
“Fire crews from Acton, Chiswick, Ealing, Park Royal and other neighbouring fire stations are at the scene.”
Local residents have been advised to keep their windows closed because of the smoke.
